Hedone Named for the Greek goddess of pleasure, Hedone drives the fantasy of Fête Bucolique into radical territory: feminine desire on its own terms. Wigged nymphs confront the viewer, gripping apples, flowers, and the throat of a peacock – claiming nature’s symbols as possessions. At the center, a reclining, de-wigged nymph rejects the dominant gaze, turning instead to her chosen fantasy: an albino, androgynous peacock encrusted in Swarovski crystals. Through hyper-femininity – ornate, excessive, and unashamed, the work transforms pleasure into power, declaring desire not as his to consume, but hers to command. |
